Schenectady, June 2, 2022 – Liz Joy the Republican candidate for New York’s 20th Congressional District announced the endorsement of two prominent law enforcement organizations today: The New York State Law Enforcement Officers Union, Council 82 which represents over 3,000 Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, County Correction Officers, State Correction Lieutenants, Emergency Dispatchers, and other Public Safety personnel across New York State and the Schenectady Police Benevolent Association (PBA).
Ronald Walsh, President of Council 82 endorsed Joy’s candidacy for Congress saying, “we respond whenever and wherever we are called upon, no matter the challenges or the danger that we face. And we are so grateful that you always stand beside us.” Walsh continued, “Council 82 proudly supports your campaign for Congress, and we pledge to do so every step of the way.”
Congressional candidate Liz Joy welcomed today’s endorsements saying, “It is an absolute honor to have the brave men and women of law enforcement put their faith in me and my campaign.” Joy continued, “In Congress, I will fight for our law enforcement officers and make sure they have the funding and support they deserve. Their job has never been harder, and we must combat crime by supporting our police and first responders.”
Peter Mullen, President of the Schenectady PBA lauded their support for Joy saying, “Reforms at the state and national level that were purportedly intended to set us on a better course and create a safer, more equitable environment for all have sadly resulted in the opposite in many places. However, your voice, reason and advocacy as an outsider on behalf of law enforcement has continued undeterred throughout. It is clear that you intend on helping reshape the direction of our state and this nation. We believe that fresh faces and innovative ideas from new leadership can help move us all in that direction. Therefore, the members of the Schenectady PBA believe that you are the right person for the 20th Congressional District in 2022 and beyond, and we are proud to support you wholeheartedly. On behalf of our members.”
