Schenectady, June 10, 2022 – Today Liz Joy the Republican candidate for New York’s 20th Congressional District announced that the National Republican Congressional Committee has added her race to its Young Guns “On the Radar” program.

Young Guns is a recruitment program led by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy focused on taking back the House of Representatives by identifying and supporting well-credentialed candidates across the country who embody the principles of the GOP and have demonstrated their ability to run successful well-funded campaigns.

“Strong Republican candidates are stepping up across the country to stop Democrats’ disastrous agenda that has led to record-high gas prices, 40-year high inflation, rising crime, and a wide open southern border,” said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. “Republicans are competing in deep blue territory this cycle because Democrats continue to play political games instead of focusing on the issues that matter to the American people.”

“I am grateful that the NRCC has recognized our campaign’s momentum and energy on the ground with this designation that opens the door to new resources that will help us defeat Paul Tonko in November,” said Joy. “I’m excited to join these strong candidates across the country as we work to take back the House. In Congress, I will fight to regain our country from the radical left that is completely out of touch with the average person. With out of control inflation costing Americans thousands of dollars more a year, gas prices spiking, and criminals being coddled by Democrats like Paul Tonko, we need a change now,” Joy concluded.

Candidates who achieve full Young Guns status have successfully collaborated with the NRCC and completed the requirements that establish a path to victory on Election Day. In 2020, 25 Young Guns were elected to Congress. Since its inception, the Young Guns program has helped elect over 150 members of Congress.

According to the NRCC: “On the Radar candidates are individuals running in competitive congressional seats. They have met the threshold for campaign organization and show potential to achieve greater status in the program as the cycle progresses.”

In addition to today’s announcement, Joy has also received recent endorsements from Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing fiscally conservative women to federal office and garnered support from prominent Law Enforcement organizations.
